Wall of Inspiration Etc....

So, just thought I would post some of the things I've been working on lately.  I like to be able to see the things that have inspired me as I work.  Maybe it's a technique I did on some scrap paper that I want to incorporate into a card, maybe it's a card I really like and want to duplicate with different colors/papers.  I like to have them visible, and I also wanted a place to hang the cards that won challenges online.  So, here is the wall hanging I put up in my scrap room:
I simply put 6 nails into the wall...got them straight by eye, nothing fancy.  I tied a thick string between them (pretty tight) and hung my cards with a mixture of colorful clothes pins and these cutie little metal clips (from IKEA).  It was easy, cheap, and keeps my workspace free from this *particular* clutter (all other types of clutter are still fair game to destroy my desk...).

Here is a closeup of the hangers:

Also, just wanted to show a couple of cards I made for family and friends.  Don't you feel so much pressure to make the *most amazing* card whenever you need to send it to someone special?? I feel like I have to pack everything I know how to do in one card and it sometimes paralyzes me creatively.  That being said, I TOTALLY CASE'd this card for my best friend who just had her second child from a VERY talented cardmaker named Therese (thank you so much for the help!!), who lives in Australia.  Her version is here.  Mine:

And another card for my cousin's wedding shower:

These are similar to her wedding colors.  I had that background paper hanging on my wall (see how useful it is??) and realized it would be perfect.  I created it by smearing a few colors of Distress Inks next to each other onto my craft sheet, then I dusted a little Perfect Pearls on top of the ink, then misted lightly with water.  I used a clear stamp and just repeatedly moved it around so the inks would blend and create gradient effects.  The Perfect Pearls set with water anyway, so it works nicely for the effect.  The dress is simply stamped with Perfect Medium, dusted with Perfect Pearls and then set by misting with water.  Easy peasy!  Thanks for looking.  Hope to have an entry for CAS-ual Fridays and Play Date Cafe in the next few days!
