Back to Basics...

So, with all this cardmaking, challenges, and setting up the Etsy shop, I have totally neglected my first love--scrapbooking 12 x12 layouts!  I decided to go back to basics this week and spend some of my free time catching up with the seemingly endless stream of photos that need to be scrapped.
This is a layout of our move to Dallas in August 2010.  Yes, we moved from South Florida to Dallas in the middle of August--SO HOT!!!  Anyways, we packed everything ourselves into a truck, which was picked up and driven across the country for us, dropped off, and then we unpacked it.  I am tired just remembering it all!  However, because it's us, we had so much fun and obviously had time to take some fun photos.
I had this idea to use paint and bubble wrap to make the background, and I think it turned out pretty well.  The flower was a paper Emily made with Glimmer Mist and Distress Ink, ripped into a rough spiral, tacked together and a brad stuck in the middle.  I am also proud because I dragged out some of the old stickers and paper scraps I haven't used in a while!
I created this embellishment by using Alcohol Ink on a Tim Holtz Fragment, then using spray glue to attach a white cardstock on the back.  You know how I love my Alcohol Inks!

I splotched some of the same paint on these Primas and then dipped them in sparkly embossing powder--used the heat gun quickly and they came out great!

So, its great to get back to scrapbooking--thanks for checking out my layout!
